The NaiLab is an ICT Business Incubation Laboratory in Nairobi - Kenya. NaiLab, shortened from Nairobi Laboratory, is focused on Web, Mobile and Digital Media for Development. The reasoning behind the NaiLab is simple. Too often, young African software and web developers, designers, researchers and innovative thinkers (often referred to as the “Cheetah generation”) labor in isolation while lacking business skills, the infrastructure and the resources to upscale their innovative ideas to support their communities. On the other hand, corporates and NGOs struggle to adapt to the versatile and rapidly changing world of technology and innovation that is unique to Africa.
The NaiLab works to enable this dynamic, intelligent and innovative young people of Nairobi's tech community to engage with the development and corporate world in need of their expertise, innovation, versatility and technological aptitude to transform these entities into sustainable, relevant and globally ranked entities and/or service providers. This stimulates job creation in the ICT sector while nurturing a blossoming the digital community in the African IT sector. The NaiLab co-creation consultancy services are offered to external companies and organizations looking for a one-stop Web, Mobile and Digital Media solution. The NaiLab offers itself as a consultant to these entities and provides the expertise that is required to do the work through its network of tech-experts and innovators.
