The STAR programme is a development tool for talents within KPN. Reason for the application is generally a development conversation between manager and/or the talent development officer and the talent. In all cases authorisation of the manager is a requirement for the application. The desired development, as well as issues regarding time spending and budget must be coordinated with the manager.

Your letter of application must contain a motivation for the concerning project, your ICT affinity and your project management experience. Moreover you are expected to clearly indicate which objective you have regarding your personal development. By means of core qualities you must indicate on which areas your commitment as a volunteer will contribute to your career prospect. The objective regarding personal development forms an important selection criterion in the application procedure.

After the letter selection candidates are invited for a selection conversation with the programme coordinator of KPN, the programme manager of HIVOS and the MD advisor. Afterwards follows a feedback on core qualities to develop.

When you are selected as a volunteer the MD advisor will invite you to register for the workshop, which HIVOS, KPN and Fources have developed to prepare volunteers on their project. Besides you will make a personal development plan for your work as a STAR volunteer with the MD advisor.

On the initiative of the MD advisor or the talent an evaluation can be planned during the project. After finishing your project a project evaluation will take place with the programme coordinator of KPN, the programme manager of HIVOS and the MD advisor. Besides you will evaluate your personal development with the MD advisor. Together you will examine to what extent the objectives of personal development have been accomplished.
